It appears that this is a “big deal” in Florida right now. And if these bills were to pass in Florida, other states would probably follow.  It goes without saying that it is essential to stop legislation that would only allow doctors to do energy work. mb

Florida Health Freedom Call to Action!

Today, the Florida Senate announced that it will not meet during the week of April 10th.  Therefore, our Natural Health Therapies event at the Capitol has been moved to Tuesday, April the 18th, between 8:30 a.m. & 5 p.m.  Natural health therapy practitioners and their clients will gather at the state capitol that day and demonstrate to legislators that Floridians want to make their own health care choices without unnecessary governmental regulation.

Two naturopathic physician licensure bills are before our legislature.  Unless amended, these bills will give naturopathic physicians a monopoly in virtually all natural health therapies. These bills seek to require that you have a medical license to do your healing work.  These bills would make it even more difficult for Floridians to find the healers and therapies that they want.

The presence of health freedom supporters at the Capitol is needed in 3 areas:

1. Healers to communicate with legislators about gentle, natural health therapies which the state cannot and should not regulate.  These therapies include energy work, cranio-sacral therapy, aromatherapy, flower essences, homeopathy, herbs and many others.

2.  Clients to show legislators that they hold dear their constitutional right to make health care choices.  Members from Florida Health Freedom Action, the lobbying/legal side of our movement, will accompany interested practitioners and clients to meetings with key legislators to discuss the importance of their work and their right to choose.

3.  Sheer numbers of people to attend expected hearing(s) where legislators will vote on these bills.  Voters’ presence will have the greatest impact on legislators’ votes.  If we aren’t there, they’ll conclude that we don’t care about health freedom.

We will hold an orientation session and provide brunch the morning of the 18th between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.  Afterwards, we will meet with legislators and their staff.  There will be a role for everyone - from answering questions about your healing art or meeting one-on-one with legislators, to contributing to our show of support through strength in numbers.

Space inside the Capitol for activities such as our natural health therapies ‘fair’ must be reserved months in advance.  Because space has been fully booked for the 18th, we will not have table demonstrations of our healing arts.  Instead, we will focus on discussions and meetings with lawmakers. This is the most effective way to have an impact at the state capitol.

Greater numbers will translate into a greater impact on legislators’ opinions about health freedom in this state.  We hope that you and your clients will join in this effort. (www.floridahealthfreedom.org)
