Soft Touch Horsemanship The Mind Body Connection

~~By God's Directions.  This is His Program--not ours!~~

Our Riding Safety & Survival Program --tells the truth!

Riders want to just get out there and ride.  WRONG to just do!

They want to trot, and canter up hills, and gallop. I suggest that by doing this -you could run your horse right into a ground hog hole. And how tragic it would be -if you were the one who's horse stepped in that hole.

Have you ever seen a fox hole? It can be like a stove pipe in the ground, well hidden in the grass. It must be an 'escape hatch' for the fox.  They do not seem to go into that hole, but they do escape. This way the grasses are not disturbed to give the location away to predators. You will not see them. They are about 5-6 inches across, and could be deadly --if your horse steps into one, while trotting, or cantering freely across country!  How would 'you' fall?  You would be thrown off!

"Well, you see it all the time in the movies. How wonderful it would be, to be so care free, galloping in the wind."  You're right! --However, it is a distorted picture painted by TV and the movies.

I have been there, done that, seen much, and --heard all of it. (ALMOST!)  Accidents happen, because people NEVER seem to learn what could get them hurt!

Soft Touch Horsemanship [STH] and Rose --REALLY CARE!  That is why we developed this program. My stories are enough to help you realize just how dumb we can all be at times, simply because we didn't know any better, --or we took a chance!

It is not always safe, to do --as you are told either!  Just because someone has ridden for years, does NOT mean they are safe to ride with!

STH Education gives you the ability to know better, and to make better decisions!  You will learn to choose your riding companions, and this in itself is a vital learning...

Discuss what we take for-granted, and learn about things that could get us hurt, or killed!  We could start 'here' --with discussion of tragedy or scary times when riding. We could speak about the rider's who break backs, and necks, or simply getting thrown(?) --falling, --being scared to get on a horse again. They say you should get back on --right? Well, let's talk about that.  What if the horse was nuts?  What if the horse is okay, but the owner or handler was nuts, and that person was taking us out for a ride?  Would you get back on that horse?  I think not!  If you're smart, you'll --walk back!  Think more of yourself! (maybe you can trust that horse MORE than the person--?)

Situations happen when riding alone, or in company.  Learn to claim your territory, your working area, your 'comfort zone'. Many do not, and they allow -others to get them into trouble.

CLAIM a 30-50 ft. SAFETY ZONE! Start looking around your horse. Be conscious of everything within that 30 ft. circle. It isn't easy to ride safe! You must have eyes, all around your head, to see everything, that 'could' cause a problem.

STH Safety/Survival, gives you the tools and teaches you HOW-TO use them.

'Defensive Riding' --helps keep you safe, so you can watch out for others as well. You can be the one who diverts tragedy.

Soft Touch Safety/Survival Program, --helps you:

  • Stay on!
  • Know when to do an emergency dismount, and how!
  • Turn horses who say, --NO!
  • Stop horses that 'run-off' with you.
  • Protect your body to not be thrown over the head of the horse.
  • Know your equipment, good, safe, --and abusive.
  • Relaxation skills to eliminate body tensions.
  • Show respect --for the possible trauma, that might be --right around the corner.
  • Anticipate error!
  • Get a horse to go where they do not want to go. Obviously, not where it is dangerous.
  • HOW to ask the horse to do what seems risky to them.
  • How to get & keep a horses trust!
  • How to ride difficult or 'tricky' courses, --in confidence!
  • Know when to stop your horse from working too hard.
  • 'Mutual Respect' -Shared Skills, -working with the Horse!
  • And much more!

Riding Safety, and Survival Skills, should be implanted, becoming second nature for every rider, before cantering, or jumping!

Learning seems slow at first -however, what you will learn can one day-save a life or prevent 'serious' injury.

Soft Touch Horsemanship  [STH] teaches:

SAFETY/SURVIVAL-TOOLS/BEHAVIOR to ride with minimal trauma &  horse sense.

An -eye opening program with Clinics, Workshops, & Seminars possible.
